My wonderful class of interns. We meet weekly for meetings and workshops which provided great support to achieve our projected goals.

My mentor, Maria Kochugaeva, and I. Maria challenged and pushed me daily. She gave me a great insights into what really goes into performing excellent research.

I presented my results at the 2016 Smalley-Curl Institute Summer Research Colloquium.

The Colloquium gave us the opportunity to discus our results with fellow students, faculty, and visiting members of private companies.

Research Experience for Undergraduates Nanotechnology | Rice University | Houston, TX

I was lucky enough to participate in the REU at Rice University for Nanotechnology this summer. REU’s are supported by the National Science Foundation and take place on campuses nationwide. Our REU group was made up of local Community College students from the greater Houston area. I was assigned to the Kolomeisky Research Group which studies statistical mechanics of complex systems and theoretical biophysics. This field was challenging for me but my mentor quickly put me at ease. My general chemistry experience and courses in differential equations proved very useful in understanding key concepts. The culmination of our research was presenting at the 2016 Smalley-Curl Institute Summer Research Colloquium. Below is the poster I presented showing my model of kinetic equations along with the results of the stochastic simulation performed with python code.
